About Us

The Mission Viejo Youth Sailing Foundation was formed in 2014 by a group of local sailors, each with decades of competitive and recreational sailing experience, who saw a need to promote and support a youth sailing program in our community so our youth may enjoy all the fun and benefits the sport of sailing has to offer. Monies raised offset the costs of equipment, training, entry fees and travel for individuals and sailing teams. The Foundation is incorporated as a nonprofit, public benefit organization under the laws of the State of California and has IRS Section 501(c) (3) exempt status. Donations made to the foundation are tax exempt to the donor. Volunteer officers and directors serve without compensation to fulfill the Foundation’s purpose.

Purpose

The Foundation’s purpose is to promote and support sailing, seamanship, water safety, team work and other life skills including community service for the youth of Mission Viejo and adjacent communities with emphasis on the instruction, training and participation in the competitive sport of sailing. And when indicated support the development of youth showing exceptional promise so they have the opportunity to progress to the highest amateur levels of the sport.
